Félix Muñoz Sánchez

Position: Research & Development Technician

Aerospace Engineer with a Master’s degree in Industrial Organization (UPM). More than 15 years of experience in the field of airborne remote sensing at INTA. His areas of expertise include the installation and operation of hyperspectral sensors on aircraft, the development of data acquisition campaigns, as well as the maintenance, calibration/characterization and improvement of the systems in the laboratory. In addition, handling of GNSS/INS sensors for georeferencing and in-depth knowledge of lab equipment. Some of the most relevant acquisition campaigns in which he has participated: studies of the heat island effect over Madrid and Athens, multitemporal campaigns over areas affected by forest fires, ESA campaigns to simulate Sentinel 3 data before its launch or Doñana National Park full coverage flights.
Among the new challenges is the integration of CFL fluorescence sensor into a motorglider pod. The process involves the design of mechanical and electrical interfaces, implementation of autonomous operation, ground testing to ensure performance and safety, as well as definition of flight parameters and data quality assurance. This experience will lead to the future integration of sensors on a large multi-mission platform such as the Airbus C-295 (INTA’s new aerial research platform).
