María José Muñoz Gómez

Position: Predoctoral researcher

Graduated in Environmental Sciences from the University of Cordoba (UCO). After completing my undergraduate studies, I enrolled in the Master’s degree in Environmental Management and Biodiversity, specialising in the sustainable use of natural resources at UCO. I am a third-year pre-doctoral researcher at the Andalusian Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training (IFAPA) in Cordoba. I have been awarded an FPI grant to develop my doctoral thesis. My thesis focuses on studying the impact of drought on primary production and other ecosystem services of Mediterranean oak savannas. The aim of this study is to develop a management decision support system based on remote sensors to cope with the expected intensification of aridity in the coming years. This will enable us to propose measures to confront these changes, which are anticipated to reduce water availability in the Mediterranean region in the medium term.
